It was Town of High Prairie Mayor Linda Cox’s honour to present two High Prairie firefighters with awards before council’s May 24 meeting. Fire chief Ken Melnyk received his 30-year bar while deputy fire chief Trevor Cisaroski received his 20-year pin. Both awards are part of the Fire Services Exemplary Medal program which recognizes the efforts of a Canadian fire service member who has competed 20 years of service, 10 years of which have been served in the performance of duties involving potential risks. Further service is recognized by the attachment of bars. Exemplary service is characterized by good conduct, dedication and efficiency in the performance of duty.
