Palliative Care hosting workshop

High Prairie & District Palliative Care Society

Rob Smith will be the guest speaker at a workshop entitled A Journey Through Grief: Helping Others Heal The Wounded Soul on April 23 at the High Prairie United Church.

Many individuals describe being deeply wounded following a traumatic life experience or death of a loved one and lack of awareness of how to help themselves or others heal the tremendous wounds. This pain is often described as soul pain.

This one-day workshop will address the question of mending the bereaved soul, coping strategies and how we might begin to gain the knowledge and support which plant seeds of hope. The time together will be filled with interactive and reflective experiences that will impact on all levels: physical, emotional and spiritual.

The workshop will explore:

* What’s normal, what’s not.

* What’s the roller-coaster all about.

* How it all comes down to meaning and purpose.

* What about us! We hurt too – children and grief.

* Strategies for healing the wounded soul.

Smith has over 30 years in the human services field. His experience includes educational, administrative and hands-on positions in family violence, victim’s assistance, suicide intervention, and much more.

Please register by calling Palliative Care at [780] 623-6438. Deadline to register is April 15.
