An 18-year-old male will have to pay almost $3,000 in unpaid fines imposed on him as a young offender.
The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was ordered to pay $2,800 when he appeared in High Prairie youth court Dec. 9.
He was 17 at the time of the offences, Crown prosecutor Terrance Hudson told youth court.
The male was reprimanded after he pleaded guilty to four counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
He was ordered to pay all fines in full by July 31, 2020.
“Start making payments,” Judge D.R. Shynkar advised.
“Make part payments so you’re chipping away at the fines.”
The male is committed to the full amount.
“He expects to pay the fines,” duty counsel Derek Renzini said.
