Lawrence Hawthorne obituary

On Jan. 14, 2020, Lawrence Hawthorne of Edmonton passed away at the age of 78 years.
He is survived by: his children, Shelley Hawthorne; Darren [Jodi] Hawthorne and Gailene [Lawrence] Kazakoff; six grandchildren, Tyler, Scott, Benjamin, Karlene, Leanne & Colin; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Gay Sebo and Dennis [Anita] Hawthorne; sister-in-law, Eva Windsor; numerous nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased: by his parents, Neal & Lillian; and brother, Edwin.
Hawthorne was a standout goaltender in the North Peace Hockey League in the late 1960s. In 1966-67 and 1967-68 he was named Best Goaltender while playing for the Fairview Elks. The next season, 1968-69, he left for the Peace River Stampeders where he won the award for the third straight season.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
