Golf club seeks line of credit

It’s never been a problem in the past, so why worry now?

High Prairie town council gave first reading at its May 24 meeting for a bylaw to support the High Prairie Golf Club’s line of credit loan for $60,000 from the Royal Bank.

CAO Brian Martinson says the club has made similar requests in the past and “never reneged” on the deal.

The Royal Bank requires council’s approval before they can approve the loan to the club.

Golf club president Arnold Gauchier wrote council with the request, saying the loan is used to support general business operations of the course from time to time, as needed.

The bylaw is advertised to inform the public and give them a chance to respond before second and third readings are given.
