First Night returns to High Prairie to celebrate New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.

A variety of activities for the family and all ages are planned at the Sports Palace from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

“This is a great opportunity for families to spend some time together with friends,” organizer Aaron Harbidge says.

“The event is open to all people of all ages.”

Bethel Baptist Church and the High Prairie Church of the Nazarene are organizing the event.

“We invite our community to join us for a free evening of fun, ice skating, and family time,” Harbidge says.

“It promises to be a lot of fun.”

Hotdogs, hot chocolate, popcorn, cookie decorating and other activities are bign planned.

“We are still finalizing our special activities and do not have them confirmed as of yet,” Harbidge says.

First Night is one of the largest New Year’s Eve events in the High Prairie region among other parties and festivities.

“We feel that High Prairie values a strong community spirit and we have always seen a great turnout for this event,” Harbidge says.

Last year, more that 150 people attended the event. First Night was started in 2006.
