Big Lakes County council has approved an interim budget for 2020 at just over $33 million.
At a special meeting Dec. 16, council adopted an interim operating budget of $33,598,404.
Despite restraint, it is business as usual for the county.
“Current services will be maintained,” says Heather Nanninga, director of corporate services.
“Budgets being presented have been developed to ensure they align with council’s goals and objectives and to maintain responsible fiscal management.”
Salaries and wages were adjusted with a 1.5 per cent cost of living allowance, she notes.
Municipal tax revenue is based on preliminary 2020 assessed values and a 1.5 per cent increase to the municipal tax rate.
Council also approved an interim capital budget of $13,345,510.
Final budget is approved in the spring.
