Three more dedicated volunteers will be added to the Big Lakes County Wall of Fame later this month.

Wendell Ebbett of Sunset House, Robert Goulet of High Prairie, and Eileen Will of Big Meadow, will have their names posted on the wall and will be honoured June 23 at the county barbecue.

Council selected the three during its regular meeting May 25.

“There were three nominations,” Reeve Ken Matthews says.

Ebbett was nominated by Brenda Ebbett for his dedicated service to the High Prairie branch of the Royal Canadian Legion for 25 years.

Goulet was nominated by the Grouard Seniors’ Community Club for serving various community, the church, and historical organizations in the region, dating back to 1978.

Will serves as president of Pleasantview Seniors’ Lodge Auxiliary, which nominated her.

She has also been active with Big Meadow community centre, St. Andrew’s Catholic School breakfast program, bowling in Enilda, J.B. Wood Continuing Care, and High Prairie Regional Aquatic Centre.

“Recognition of outstanding volunteers can contribute to overall community pride,” says Louise Myre, director of Big Lakes Family and Community Support Services.

“Communities benefit from volunteers’ contributions in that the services they provide help individuals, families and the community to address local needs and problems.

“Greater enthusiasm and rapport develops when volunteers share their enthusiasm for the work they are doing and the organization they are affiliated with.”

Community groups and organizations annually submit nominations. Council selects one to three nominees.
