The Faust fire district has a new deputy fire chief.

George Baker became the new deputy fire chief for Faust in the Big Lakes County Fire Services, county fire chief Dave Sturgeon announced in a news release Jan. 21.

Baker succeeds Robert Nygaard, who stepped down immediately after serving 15 years in the post.

“Robert Nygaard will still be an active member of the department and will be providing his expertise to George Baker during this transition,” Sturgeon says.

Ken MacEachern was also appointed captain to fill the role previously held by Baker.

“Big Lakes County Fire Services thanks Robert Nygaard for his dedicated service and will be looking forward to working with Robert in his new role,” Sturgeon says.

Baker and Nygaard have both served 16 years; MacEachern has logged in 11 years.
