The High Prairie South Peace News is an award winning regional weekly newspaper serving a large part of Northern Alberta, Canada in what is known mostly as “The Peace Country,” but also “The Land of 12-Foot Davis,” and “Land of the Midnight Twilight.”

The service area includes many communities, the largest being High Prairie, Peace River and Falher, Alberta. In the east of the service area is Kinuso. In the North is the town of Peace River, Red Earth Creek and the Municipal Districts of Opportunity and Northern Sunrise. In the south is the town of High Prairie and further south, a vast woodland area. In the west is the Municipal District of Smoky River and communities of Falher, Girouxville, Guy, and McLennan

Communities within the news coverage area also include Triangle, Peavine, Gift Lake, Atikameg, Whitefish, Trout Lake, Nampa, Jean Cote, Marie Rein, Grouard, Enilda, Kap’Weno First Nation, Sucker Creek First Nation, Joussard, Driftpile First Nation, East Prairie, Faust and Kinuso. The region includes Big Lakes County, the largest by population regional government in the area.

The South Peace News began in 1962 and has published weekly every Wednesday, except for the week between Christmas and New Years, since then. In 2020, the South Peace News merged with the Falher Smoky River Express, which was a sister newspaper to the News since the 1970’s.
