Advance voting will be offered for electors in the Town of High Prairie for elections in October.

At its regular meeting Aug. 8, council approved a recommendation by administration to set the advance poll for Oct. 5 at the town office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Voters will be able to cast ballots for town council and local trustees for High Prairie School Division.

“That’s also the same date that Big Lakes County has set for its advanced polls,” CAO Brian Martinson says.

For election day on Oct. 16, council approved special voting will also take place at Pleasantview Lodge, Heritage Manor and the Golden Age Manor.

Council will later determine the time and length of the time when election officers will be at each institution.

Information will be communicated in advance to administration of each site.

Further information on voting and nominations will be advertised by the town in the coming weeks.

The new council will be sworn in at the organizational meeting set for Oct. 24.

As a result, council cancelled the regular meeting of Oct. 24.
