PICs – Those dog days of winter

John Desormeaux shows his dog Tundra, a great Pyreneese golden retriever. Residents admiring the dog are, left-right, Gay Jones, Janis Bloom, Theresa Simoneau and Pauline Kushner.

Pleasantview Lodge in High Prairie celebrated dogs with its annual dog show Feb. 7. About 20 dogs and their handlers were on show during the event that has been held the past seven years, says recreation director Norma Deuchar. “It’s fun and everyone enjoyed it,” Deuchar says. “For many of the senior residents, it takes them back to their childhood.”

The show featured one of the smallest dogs. Sherry Clarke, middle, carries her dog Maude, an apple head Chihuahua, and shows it to residents Bernadette Doucette, left, and Polly Stafford, right.
Eileen Will, right, shows her dog Dax, a golden retriever. Left-right, are Evelyn Henry, Joan Driscoll and Tom Milner.
Dogs on Parade ended the dog show. Left-right, are Mary Fuller with Maxtobey, a shih tzu, and Barb Turcotte with Dusty, a standard poodle.
William Lizotte, right, shows Ace, a giant Alaskan malemute. Left-right, are Ed Kozie, Verda Kozie, Louisa Rich, great-grandson Nicholas Rich and resident Steve Kohlman.
