The High Prairie and Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for a secretary-treasurer to serve on the executive.
“We will have nominations and an election at our next meeting,” president Jennifer Zatko says.
A letter of resignation from Michelle Simoneau was attached to the agenda at the Feb. 7 meeting..
Simoneau remains committed to serve as a member of the chamber despite her circumstances.
“My work commitments have changed and I am no longer able to attend meetings on a regular basis,” says Simoneau, who resigned Jan. 15.
She was elected to the position at the annual general meeting May 3, 2017.
Several faces have changed since then, including a new vice-president and three directors, who have not attended meetings. One director has moved out of the region.
No official meeting could be held since the executive did not reach a quorum.
The chamber plans to discuss spring and summer activities and promotions at their next meeting.
As well, the chamber executive plans to meet with High Prairie town council in the coming months to propose a partnership.
Zatko welcomed Big Lakes County Councillor Don Charrois to his first meeting after being appointed as county liaison at the organizational meeting last October.
“It’s good to have partnerships with the town and the county,” Zatko says.
“We just want open partnerships and communication, working together.”
High Prairie Councillor Michael Long was appointed to represent town council.
The next chamber meeting is scheduled for March 7.
Chamber meetings are set for the first Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Town of High Prairie civic building.
