Two women charged with a series of robberies in High Prairie will make their pleas May 2 in High Prairie provincial court.

Jodi Ann Bellerose, 39, and Jana Marie Eileen Toner, 33, both of High Prairie, appeared in court April 11 and reserved plea and election to May 2.

Each was charged with armed robbery, theft under $5,000 and wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence, possession of stolen property, and possession of an illegal substance.

Bellerose also is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and a second robbery charge.

Toner and Bellerose remain in custody after they were arrested March 30 in connection with two robberies at two gas stations and a theft on March 23. Early that morning, two female suspects entered the Esso gas station in High Prairie and stole a quantity of cigarettes, a police report states.

A couple of hours later that same morning, at the same gas station, two women entered the store armed with knives.

Although nobody was injured, they took a quantity of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing.

The third incident took place just before 10 p.m. the same evening at the Shell gas station. A woman entered the store and asked to use the bathroom. When she returned from the bathroom, she showed the attendant a knife and demanded cash.

The clerk complied with the woman’s request and was unharmed. The woman fled the store upon obtaining money and cigarettes.
