PIC – Meet HPE’s top bookworm

For many years now, High Prairie Elementary School teacher, Brenda Coulombe has had her students read a minimum 100 minutes per week. Many students read more. Their minutes are tracked in a book log each time they read. About 10 years ago a student read so much that Coulombe put his name and minutes read up on the wall. This became a silent challenge for any student in the class to surpass. Students such as Brennan, Jaidan, Amara and more recently, Liam Bilyk, have had their names on the Grade 5C wall. This year, Grade 5 student, Leah Thompson, smashed all previous records with her 36,050 minutes read over the last 10 months.
