It will soon be time to haul out your Halloween decorations and display them in the yard.

And to encourage as many people to take part as possible, the Town of High Prairie is holding its 3rd annual Halloween Decorating Contest.

Council gave the green light for the contest at its Sept. 11 meeting. There are two categories: Traditional Display including scary, haunting and/or ghoulish; and Modern Display, including elegant and stylish.

To enter, e-mail photos to reception@highprairie.ca and include name, address and phone number, although the name and phone number will not be posted online. Eligible photos will be posted on the Town of High Prairie’s Facebook page.

Entries are limited to the front yard only. No inside or backyard displays included.

Winners will be chosen by the most “Likes” on the Facebook page.

Deadline for submissions is Oct. 24 at noon.

Prizes will be awarded Oct. 30 with certificates presented for first, second and third place.

The contest is part of council’s efforts in trying to engage its citizens in a fun way.

“The town really has nothing for its citizens to take part in,” said Councillor Donna Deynaka.
