Five area residents ranging in age from 18 to 72 years face drug related charges after a police raid Jan. 22.

RCMP Cpl. Chris Warren says the High Prairie Integrated Drug Unit and local police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant in High Prairie which resulted in the charges.

“Five people were arrested and during the search of the residence approximately 50 grams of cocaine prepackaged for the sale on the streets of High Prairie was seized along with marijuana and cash,” says Warren.

Charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of property obtained by crime are James Badger, 18, of Sucker Creek First Nation, Quinn Cunningham, 19, of Peavine Metis Settlement, Brandon Munro, 19, of High Prairie, Eleanor Louise Okemow, 62, of High Prairie, and Frank Hagel, 72, of High Prairie.

Warren adds the five accused were released from custody and will enter pleas to the charges in High Prairie provincial court Feb. 18.

The arrests confirm the Integrated Drug Enforcement Unit’s efforts to identify and disrupt organized crime in the region, and hold people accountable for their involvement in criminal activities, Warren concludes.

“We need your assistance. Cooperation between the RCMP and the public is instrumental to the success of our crime reduction efforts.”
